This is turning out to be the perfect chain for me. I’ve got a e-cargo long John, which means there aren’t good opportunities to fit a u lock around something. This is the perfect length to get through my rear triangle and around something immovable. It feels solid and secure. I really like the integrated design as opposed to a chain and padlock design. I also really like that the sleeve covers all the links, leaving nothing to scratch my bike. The locking mechanism is very smooth—much better in my opinion than Kryptonite’s. (I’ve sheared a Kryptonite key trying to get it out before.) I’m taking off one star because the magnetic closure doesn’t really work as advertised. The weight of the chain is so heavy that it just pulls the link right out of the chamber. Sometimes I can get it at just the right angle to keep the link in, but it’s not as useful of a feature as I hoped.
I was drawn to the Viking Gold 90 for its security rating and overall design. The lock is easy to use, will wrap around just about any type of public bike rack, and leaves me feeling secure when locking up in public areas. The integrated neoprene sleeve keeps the chainlinks covered and protected from the elements. The magnetic element does really help to keep things tight when engaging the locking mechanism. This is now my favorite lock!!
After two stolen bikes I finally went big. Should have done it sooner. Camera caught potential thief walking up to bike this week and he didn’t even make an effort. Just walked away. Love the lock mechanism and key too.
Good materials, the neopren is fab for wrapping around the bike with no damage.
So happy with this lock!
Great lock. I feel secure that my e-bike will stay put. I use 2 seaty locks because my studded tires need protection as well.
I've been using the Viking Chain Lock 110 for about a month now and it's one of the best locks I've owned. It is on the heavy side, but for reasons that make it more secure. The sleave and protective shell help prevent the chain scraping the metal of the bike frame. The length is perfect for tightly securing the frame and front wheel to most bike racks. It is snug, so may not be long enough for wider poles or other wide objects.
Weighs about 8 lbs but well worth it when it has to be protected
